Backrooms: Extractions is a 1-6 player cooperative horror game where you embody M.E.G. agents sent into the Backrooms. Each mission challenges your team to explore, survive, and extract missing operatives while facing unpredictable entities.
Backrooms: Extractions is developed and published by Headlight Studio (Vertex Lab).
The game launched in Early Access on April 30, 2025 on Steam.
The game is currently available on PC via Steam. A PlayStation version is planned for a later date.

Gameplay
Backrooms: Extractions supports 1 to 6 players in online co-op. You can play solo, but the game is designed for team-based play where communication and coordination are critical for survival.
Players are M.E.G. agents equipped with advanced technology (set in the year 2062) who enter the Backrooms to locate and extract missing operatives. Each level features unique puzzles, hazards, and entities. Solve puzzles to unlock exits while evading entities.
The game launched with 7 distinct levels: Lobby, Habitable Zone, Paradise, Attic Floorboard, Utility Halls, Fun, and The Suburbs. More levels are planned during Early Access.
There are currently 7 entities: Smiler, Duller, Wretches, Hound, Transporter, Skin Stealer, and Party Goer. Each has unique behaviors and threats.
Yes. The game features a progressive reputation system that unlocks new tools, levels, and cosmetics as you complete missions and gain experience.
Endless Loop is an infinite difficulty scaling mode where resources diminish over time and the challenge keeps increasing. It tests how long your team can survive against escalating threats.

Multiplayer
Yes, the game can be played solo. However, the difficulty is not reduced for solo play — the Backrooms are equally dangerous whether you are alone or in a group.
